Assistant Rail Manager – Glasgow

Readypower Rail Services is looking for an experienced Assistant Rail Manager to support our operations. This is a full-time opportunity based in Glasgow.

The ideal candidate will work in a team environment managing delivery of rail and construction plant services to customers. They will also ensure aspects of service delivery in their charge are executed from planning, delivery and completion stages successfully.

The role:
• Liaise with other managers in the Operations team to plan the delivery of service
• Carry out the necessary checks to ensure people used are competent to undertake the use of equipment being hired
• Carry out checks to ensure people being used are fit to work and are working within the working hour rules and fatigue management of individuals is planned via the HSE calculator.
• Liaise with the Engineering department to plan and check plant planned for work is inspected, fit for purpose and certified
• Liaise with customers and advise on the correct plant for the work planned
• Liaise with the Logistics Managers and plan any plant and equipment deliveries and collections with the customers (arranging meet and assist)
• Inform in due time, the agreed meet and assist arrangements with transport personnel
• Prepare relevant information for the bi-weekly conference call meetings
• Respond to customer enquiries and ensure responses are given in a timely manner as to Readypower’s ability to provide its services or not
• Complete any documentation required by your role within the operations team accurately and in a timely manner
• Support the Rail Teams in their attempt to maintain Rail PPS scores at the desired number
• Carry out other relevant operational duties as required
• Take turn on the on-call manager roster when required
• Assist in costing and control of these costings, building schedules, keeping company systems up to date for invoicing
• Assist on keeping Maintenance records up to date

Requirements:

  • At least three years of experience in plant hire, and where applicable, railways
    • Good knowledge and experience of operational procedures, statutory legislation, and where applicable, Railway Group and Network Rail Standards plus rule/handbooks
    • Confident in the use of Microsoft Office software
