World Mental Health Day

10 October is World Mental Health Day.

As part of our Group mental health strategy Readypower has signed up to the Building Mental Health charter which means we are working towards educating our teams and breaking down the stigma around discussing mental health in the workplace.

As part of this commitment, we are delivering training to our staff and managers which includes rolling out Mental Health Awareness toolbox talks to our site-based employees over the coming months.

We also have a number of Mental Health Champions across the Group. Champions help to promote mental health and wellbeing in the workplace and lead on initiatives in their locations and get the conversations going.

Our HR Manager, Erin, is the first Mental Health First Aider for the group. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help offered to a person developing a mental health issue, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health issue or in a mental health crisis.

The aims of MHFA are to:

– Preserve life where a person may be a risk of harm to themselves or others

– Provide help to prevent the mental health issue from becoming more serious

– Promote recovery of good mental health

– Provide comfort to a person with a mental health issue
