Readypower Rail Services Delivers Derby's Longest-Ever Conventional Renewal

THE CHALLENGE
When Network Rail’s Works Delivery Derby needed to renew 2,660 yards of track at Broadsides, they turned to Readypower Rail Services and together they delivered the longest conventional renewal programme the depot has ever undertaken.
The project demanded precise sequencing across a demanding worksite, with continuous access to plant and materials maintained throughout. When an underbridge 800 yards into the site blocked standard RRV access, the team adapted: splitting the works, maintaining momentum on accessible sections, and returning with a rail-mounted RRV and specialist Knox head attachment to complete the isolated area without losing a yard of progress.
The result: 3,800 sleepers installed, 132 panels removed, and 11.5 pairs of rail laid. All delivered safely, within the possession window, and to full specification.
